South Church Art Show and Picnic on July 12th!

The Anne Allaire Art Show -The Christian Education Committee is planning an arts Sunday on July 12th. Anyone, and everyone, is invited and encouraged to submit some type of art to be displayed during worship that morning and following worship on the front steps of the church while the picnic takes place on the River Green. All different types of art are welcome, including paintings, drawings, illustrations, calligraphy, photography, quilting, pottery.

We are especially excited to honor and dedicate this art show to Anne Allaire, a wonderful artist and member of South Church, who passed away this past April. The plan is to also include some of Anne's work.

Children and adults, please start getting your art pieces together and plan to share them with us for this special Arts Sunday. All art pieces need to be dropped of at the church NO LATER than Monday, July 6th. This enables us to decorate the various art pieces for the worship service which will be taped later that week.

On behalf of the Christian Ed and Fellowship Committee, please join us for The South Church Picnic on Sunday, July 12th at noon on the River Green (Rain date July 19).    Bring your own food, beverage, chairs, blankets, etc.  Please wear your masks until you are settled.  Colorful spinners on the green will designate safe -distance seating.  Fun craft packages will be available for all children.

In order to follow CDC guidelines, we are limiting attendance to 50 people, so please sign up as soon as possible by emailing Heather Graham at heathergraham3187@gmail.com .    Please let Heather know how many people will be in your party and how many children are included.  Deadline for sign up is Tuesday July 7 or until all spaces are filled.  We look forward to seeing you in person July 12th on the River Green!

Welcome Pastor Renee Kaufman!

The members of the Central Board and the Christian Education Committee of South Church are excited and blessed to introduce and welcome our new Minister of Christian Education, the Reverend Renee Kaufman. She officially joined the church staff May 4th.

Pastor Renee is originally from Vienna, West Virginia. She graduated from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and is an ordained minister of the American Baptist Churches, USA. She served on the national staff of the ABC-USA in the Department of Educational Ministries.

Renee has also served churches in Beverly, MA; Shaker Heights, OH; New London, NH; and North Oxford, MA. Most recently Renee was the Minister of Christian Education at the Federated Church of Norfolk in Massachusetts. Renee is married to the Reverend Scott Cousineau who recently became the pastor of the First Parish Congregational Church in Saco.

We believe that God called Pastor Renee to us as we were struggling to find the right fit and match for South Church. She was introduced to us and we went through the interview process with the help of the personnel committee, and unanimously agreed that she is exactly what South Church needs at this time! Renee is excited as she begins her ministry at South Church and cannot wait to meet all of our children and youth in person, as well as the adults!
