Adult Education
As a community of Joy and Wonder, South Church offers opportunities for the community to wonder and learn together about scripture, theology, current events, and what it means to be human.
Ongoing Offerings
Bible Study: The Bible/Book Study Group meets most of the program year on Thursdays from 3:30 to 4:30 by zoom. Consult the calendar or the "Notes from the River Green" for more information. During the Fall of 2024, the Class will be on Creation and Covenant. We will be reading the book of Genesis and Rev. Susan will share wisdom from Marilynne Robinson's "Reading Genesis," and Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg's "The Beginnings of Desire: Reflections on Genesis.
Contemplative Prayer and Meditation: Also during the Autumn of 2024, a 4 part series on contemplative prayer in which we will practice meditation, support one another as we attempt to bring the practice into our everyday lives, and share experieces and insights. The Class will be help Wed Oct 23, 30, Nov 6 and 13 at 4:00 pm in the Community House (8 Temple Street).
Summer Sessions
Shorts on the Green: Shorts on the Green are back. The Summer of 2024 we will be reading short stories about family. We meet Mondays from 2:00 to 3:15. Bring a lawn chair, as we will sit on the river green, weather permitting.
