...But We are the church.

Our mission is to be an inclusive community of faith that preaches the word of God, teaches the love of Jesus Christ, and reaches out to all through the Holy Spirit.

-An Open and Affirming Congregation-

Thank you, Pastor Scott!

The Deacons and the South Church community gratefully thank Pastor Scott Kavanagh for serving for the last 4 months as Summer Guest Minister.  Pastor Scott’s positivity, creativity, flexibility and many other attributes were the perfect fit for South Church as we continued to navigate ministerial transitions and COVID restrictions. A giclee photograph of the Church River Green, taken by King Montgomery, was presented to Pastor Scott during videotaped worship September 6, as a thank-you for all he has done for us this summer, and to commemorate his signature “River Green Reflections.”

This is to formally, and joyfully announce that the motion to call the Reverend Susan Page Townsley as our Settled Minister at South Congregational Church, UCC, Kennebunkport, ME was unanimously approved by all present Saturday, both on the RiverGreen and on Zoom! Contract negotiations are complete and she will join our Church family November 1, 2020.

We were truly blessed with a perfect sunny morning, inspiring sermons and a congregation that has prayed together and stayed together, even at a distance!  Thank you to all who voted, those that joined us with their prayers and well wishes, and all the folks that worked so hard to see this day come to fruition ~ the Search Team, our church staff,  the Deacons,  our Communications/Tech crew and Central Board.

Blessings, Patti Berger, Chair, Central Board.

We have a new Settled Minister!
