Text Box: Dear South Friends,

My first mentor in ministry told me that marriages only stay strong if the two recognize that they must continually woo and wed each other because the husband and wife are not the same two people they were a year ago. To some degree that is true of any relationship.

Charlie hoped that he would return renewed. From his travel notes I feel quite certain that will be the case. He hoped that this sabbatical would be a time of renewal for you also. I would like to think that the work and worship we are dong together is helping that happen – a renewed you ready to meet a renewed Charlie.

For that reason I look forward to his return, even while I am feeling wistful as my time with you draws to a close. But I want you to know that I too have been renewed through this experience.
Saying goodbye to my congregation in Dover was hard. Saying hello to you gave a new place for my heart to be. You are a gift to Constance and me. Thank you. Faithfully,
                                                 David
